This section was
included for those management professionals interested in learning more about
the basic elements of Internet technology, such as basic terminology, history
and functions of the Internet. We try to make the sites as easy to navigate as
posible, based on the assumption that the users of this technology are not
computer science experts but people with business goals rather than technology
interests.
HISTORY
Is
the interconnection of computer science networks that allows the computers to
communicate to each other. The technology of Internet is a precursor of
which will be used by the call 'superfreeway of información', an objective of
those who work in projects of computer science communication that would make
available of all type of institution (for example the educative ones). Internet
would be the first forum and the first universal library which at any time it is
possible to be entered: it never closes his doors.
The
origin of Internet was a called project ARPANET, sponsored by the Agency of
Projects of Investigation Outpost of the Department of Defense of the United
States. This department had established to construct a network to send
information and that was totally independent, of such form that the destruction
of some of the elements of the network (in a hypothetical nuclear war) would not
prevent the operation of the network as a whole: thus the first global network
would begin. The original goal was the development of a great network that
connected computers to great distances, but in the middle of the 70´s it became
evident that a single network did not satisfy the necessities with the entire
world; for that reason which at the moment is known like Internet it is
conformed by thousands of networks that extend by all the globe.
One
of the reasons why Internet works so successful is the absence of owners,
proprietors, leaders: nobody "runsa" the network, nobody is "On control ", is
not an only organization who covers the costs. Internet does not have laws,
police, or army.
DATES OF INTEREST
The project began the 25 of October of 1968 in the Institute of investigation
of Stanford and the 5 of December of 1969 ARPANET was based officially
connecting four places on California and Utha. 1983 Internet becomes in fact
when the ARPANET project start being a military section and another civilian,
for this time already existed 500 computers connected to the network.
